Laura’s Journey to SoundMind Insights
Laura is a dedicated Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) and brain injury survivor, holding the Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), making her uniquely positioned in her field. As an author, speaker, and Certified Lingraphica Technology Specialist, she leverages her personal journey with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) to inspire and guide patients, families, and care partners through the multifaceted challenges of recovery.
Laura’s unwavering passion for cognitive rehabilitation shines through her advocacy of compensatory strategies, bringing hope and support to those navigating this challenging path. Her expertise includes enhancing various cognitive functions, such as sustained and divided attention, which are crucial for effective rehabilitation.
A talented musician, Laura played the cello and banjo before her injury. After the accident left her left hand unable to perform fine motor skills, she discovered the dulcimer, an instrument that allowed her to continue making music despite her limitations. This adaptive journey reflects her growth mindset, encouraging others to find new ways to pursue their passions despite challenges.
Who better to uplift and empower Traumatic Brain Injury survivors and their families than someone who has intimately experienced recovery from both sides of the table? Her mission is to offer encouragement, resources, and expert guidance to the individuals and families she serves, ensuring no one walks this road alone. Laura's extensive experience spans working with both adults and children, making her a versatile and compassionate ally in the journey to recovery.
Driven by her passion for helping other TBI Survivors, Laura founded SoundMind Insights. Here, she offers individual sessions, a 6-week "Insight Course" tailored to survivors or medical professionals, and speaking engagements in a variety of settings.
